the auckland-based, new zealand club night �haven� has been a leading light in the pacific nation�s small underground dance music scene in the past year. from their home of the intimate backroom of basement venue whammy, founders keepsakes and jaded nineties raver have introduced the local night fiends to a diverse range of left-of-centre, techno-centric dance music in putting on shows with international artists from lo-fi australian electro wizard daze, to the harder-edged sounds of ansome and uvb.
now launching as a vinyl-focused record label, haven is attempting to push the best of new zealand�s new guard of outsider dance music to the international stage.

bleeds second release of the year is a fourth solo outing for label head volte-face, following up last year s incendiary you bury me 12inch. in classic bleed fashion, the ep features three atmospheric peak-time techno tracks, an ambient piece and an artist-curated remix by rising japanese star wata igarashi, a name synonymous with some of the finest off-centre techno labels, including semantica, time to express and midgar.

gardens of god sodai imprint continues to unearth creative production talent from the label�s native city of vilnius with the third and latest artist from the city to feature on the label. introducing talassa barda for his debut introducing three expertly crafted techno cuts. lead track wolf has a howling big room sound effect and a dark techno underbelly. human with it�s haunting like qualities develops into a peak time monster that is sure to thunder in vast spaces over the summer. finally, bleed is a rolling acid tinged track that fuses electro, breakbeat and techno for possibly the most interesting of all three.

rote return to bleed for a second ep release on the label, the first of 2016. formed of daniel avery and label-head volte-face as an open-ended side project, the duo tend to adost an esoteric and experimental approach to techno, expressed in this case with 5 diverse original tracks. as solo artists, volte-face has appeared on svrecas semantica imprint as well as releasing 3 solo eps on bleed thus far. daniel avery is a high-profile fixture on club and festival bills, and is soon to be found contributing to the legendary dj kicks series. ep2 builds on the sound of the duo s debut ep, which was well supported in the underground, and remixed by experimental techno doyens dj nobu and svreca. featuring two heads down eyes closed club tracks, rote 3 and rote 4, two ambient excursions, lifted and sun at night (the latter of which would be equally at home on a psychedelic rock lp!) and a lilting melodic closer, end of the sky

the first bleed release of 2017 welcomes another new artist to the fold. a seriously respected nyc based studio aficionado and close contemporary/collaborator of the bleed-released dj spider, phil moffa is also known for working alongside anthony parasole and seth troxler as well as releasing solo eps on the corner, most excellent unlimited and plan b recordings. the mass action ep features three original peak-time techno tracks, psychohistory, dodecahedron and decimation, with a remix of the latter by label boss volte-face, all primed for peak-time club play.

limited to 300. a fourth vinyl release for london label bleed, and a first full ep from new jersey based dj spider, who runs plan b and sublevel sounds, and has also released on the trilogy tapes, killekill and nord, occasionally in collaboration with phil moffa, marshalito and franklin de costa. spider also featured on the most recent bleed release, providing a remix for volte-face s all grown up ep. this release, burning museums , is said to -represent the loss of knowledge of mankind by the modern scientists who are destroying ancient texts in their attempt to erase history-. a tough, direct yet heady ep, burning museums features 4 spider originals, 3 primed for techno floors, and 1 ambient excursion. there s also a remix by bleed boss, volte-face. eatly support from svreca, dj nobu, daniel avery, tripeo and zadig.

bleed enter their stride, with a third release of the year, following on from volte-face�s �charlatan� ep, and the daniel avery/volte-face collaboration as rote, �ep1&#8242,,,,. �all grown up�, volte-face�s second ep, �all grown up�, comes out shortly before his debut on semantica, with a track featuring on their next nonnative compilation. the ep is primed for club play, with three densely detailed peak-time techno originals, as well as a short ambient interlude and a killer dj spider remix. the record has received early plays from friends of the label, including daniel avery, dj nobu, tripeo, etapp kyle, blind observatory, francois x and ryan james ford.

bleed follow up their inaugural release, by volte-face, which received plays and praise from the likes of dvs1, pangaea, luke slater, marcel fengler, blawan, erol alkan and anthony parasole. rote is a debutant artist, formed by volte-face and daniel avery, best known for his lp drone logic , widely considered to be one of the breakthrough dance albums of the last decade. rote is a project with no precise mission statement. the goal is to approach each studio session with a fresh impetus, to release club eps with minimal fanfare and fuss. the ep features two densely atmospheric, peak-time techno tracks as well as remixes from semantica head svreca, and arguably the most prominent contemporary techno artist in japan, dj nobu. a small pool of djs have received the tracks ahead of promo, with early support from nina kraviz, dvs1, silent servant, tripeo, ryan james ford, jp enfant, distant echoes and samuli kemppi
